Slimming World Secrets

12 weeks as a Slimming World Target member

Crikey, I made it. Despite four consecutive gains this month (albeit tiny ones) I’ve managed to stay at Target for 12 weeks. Happy days!

My week

  • Average Syns per day: 29.2
  • Average Speed foods per day: 8.6
  • SP days: 4
  • Body Magic days: 6
  • Result: +½lb
  • Total loss: -5st 5½lbs

My week wasn’t what you might call “angelic”. The lure of beer ahead of two crunch football matches – and then partying with the girls afterwards in the pub – meant I always going to be playing catch-up over the past week.

But I somehow managed to claw things back with four consecutive SP days – and just a single Syn taken on board over them all. There was also plenty of step aerobics for Body Magic.

With my average Syns for the week being 29.2, that shows you just what a boozy weekend it was!

Slim for Life – the Andie way!

Yet, despite that, and despite four gains (+1lb, +½lb, +½lb and +½lb), I’m still – somehow – a Target member after 12 weeks.

That milestone is in the Slim for Life book as the last week you need to keep recording your progress as a Target member, though I shall continue with my trusty spreadsheets.

It’s fair to say that I’ve not exactly been following the Slim for Life plan to the letter. I’ve not had my extra Healthy Extra every day – maybe just one or two per week.

And I’ve been going over my weekly average Syns pretty much since Christmas. I just feel I need to focus a little harder at weekends.

Of late, it’s been a case of partying hard at the weekend, and then firefighting during the week ahead of weigh day on Saturday. And repeat.

I need to get back to where I was before Christmas – when I was having just one naughty day (Saturday) and the other six really on plan. That Flexible Syns plan really works for me.

At present, it’s all a bit “boom and bust”. But staying at Target for 12 weeks is no mean feat, so I’m pretty I’m pleased.

We’re losing our consultant

I’ve been a member of my local Saturday morning group since June last year after seven years with my previous group, which closed down.

I’ve really enjoyed my new group – I think I prefer weighing in on Saturday mornings as it keeps me on track on Friday night – a night which used to be challenging!

There are some lovely members – they voted me their Woman of the Year not so long ago. And I just adore my consultant, Tracy.

Sadly, after almost 16 years as a consultant, Tracy is calling it a day and stepping down. It’s so sad because she’s a wonderful consultant – and person.

She’s been nothing but encouraging in terms of both my journeys (my trans one and my slimming one) and I doubt I’d have got to Target without her support.

We now have four weeks remaining with Tracy – and then I’m not sure what happens. Other consultants have been asked, but they have declined to take over the group.

I’ve even been asked myself. Apparently, after Tracy told the early group that she was leaving, some of the members were asking for me to take over.

Which is really sweet of them! But, though I’d love to work for Slimming World someday, I’d prefer a head office role rather than becoming a consultant.

What happens to our group now remains a mystery. Only time will tell.

Happy anniversary to the blog

This is now my 52nd weekly blog post since I launched the website, so I’ve now amassed a full “year in the life” of content which will hopefully help other people.

My past 12 months includes winning Woman of the Year, getting to Target, resetting my Target and getting to that one, plus a few blips along the way, such as the week I gained 10½lbs. I may have been a Target member for the past 12 weeks, but I am far from perfect.

Anyway, I’m not going to update the blog every single week any longer – only when there’s something big to report. Otherwise, the content could get a bit “samey”.

Instead, I shall write more Syn-Free Feasts ideas, and more features about the various awards and so on.

Return to the Sparkly Castle

That said, I shall definitely be writing a post next week because, as I wrote last week, I’ve been invited for a magazine photoshoot at Slimming World head office, aka the Sparkly Castle. This is tomorrow.

Most of the detail is in last week’s post, but there is just one thing to add – I’ve also now been invited to Slimming World’s salon, where my curls will be coiffed ahead of the shoot.

So it’s gonna be an evening of pampering tonight to get myself ready for my big day – and I still need to figure out what to wear!

After seven years of playing at Slimming World, I finally got my head into gear and hit Target, losing 5½st. Since then, I've featured in Slimming World Magazine and won Woman of the Year twice. Not bad for a trans girl!

Thanks lovely! Fourteen weeks now, although I’m off work this week, so have not been nearly as careful as I usually am. Going to do three SP days for damage limitation ahead of weigh day on Saturday! So glad you enjoy reading my ramblings. Shall update the blog soon, I promise. xxx
